All could use your Monday emails. Thanks for being you.

Hi Mary,

I think the affirmation “I am open to all good things and I welcome them into my life.” is true, but isn't all that simple.

It's true, you'll miss out on almost every possibility that comes your way, if you're not open to them. This applies to good and bad. To stay on the positive side, you need a positive expectation. The affirmation can be understood as a positive expectation, but without it, the outcome may not be what you expect...

Thanks for making my day happier :)

Hi Vikki, Thanks for your comment. I assume that you are speaking about the poem in red. I did fail to give credit today for the poem, so I have updated the blog to identify it as a "Swedish proverb." This was an oversight. My policy is to give appropriate citation for people's quotations, poems, etc. If you look at my other Motivating Moments you will see that this is true.

Since you brought up plagiarism, I did a quick Google search this morning on this title. Of course, I found many references to the Swedish proverb. I also found that this Motivator content has been duplicated on three other blogs (there may be more). One of blogs did cite me as the author, the others did not. Two of them even included my "Affirmation for the Week," which have been part of my Motivators since 1999.

Actually, I published this particular Motivator originally on September 15, 2003 at http://www.workplaceissues.com/mmm230915.htm, which is also my website.

Again, thank you for commenting. If you find other times where I do not give proper credit for others' work, please let me know. I do not intentionally plagiarize.

Thank you for being a subscriber to the Motivating Moments weekly email for the past several years.

Have a great week!

I would like to comment that I do not see the correct author listed on your emails and I'm well aware of where many of these stories have come from. It feels to me like you're plagarizing others work.

What a wonderful philosophy to live by. Build your legacy by being who you are and acting on who you are. I have a favorite saying that is related. "I can't hear what you are saying because what you do speaks so much louder."

We are what we do and what we do should be a reflection of who we are.

Hi Kirsten,

I like that quote...

Our thoughts are much more powerful than we may realize. By monitoring and managing our thoughts, we can change our life.

Thanks for sharing Kirsten.

What a great way to start the new year!

I also like this other quote of his:
"A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes"

We really are able to change how our world seems to us by interacting with it differently. My mother would call it "not listening to your tapes" - not letting those little negative thoughts that we all get control how you view the world.

I have a book by Pema Chodron on Mindfulness. You are so right - you can take control of your life by being aware.

Hi Ryan,

I like your motto! Change certainly seems to be the "norm" these days, especially in the online business world.

Best wishes for a successful 2012 and beyond!
